Stornoway Hotel Accommodation
Stornoway is the main town and administrative centre of the Western Isles (or Outer Hebrides) of Scotland. Over the last decade or so the local council has worked hard to beautify the town and, with a few extra flower beds and a couple of fountains it is surprising what a difference it has made. As you can see from the photograph on the left the town of Stornoway is dominated by it's long and important association with the sea and fishing. Once one of the most important herring fishing ports in Europe Stornoway still maintains a small fishing fleet which adds to the character and atmosphere greatly.
Looking out across the harbour you will see the wonderful Lews Castle and the heavily wooded and extensive castle grounds. If you get the chance take a walk around you will find it extremely relaxing.
Below is a selection of the hotel accommodation available in Stornoway.
Stornoway Hotels
The Royal Hotel, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
The Royal Hotel: The Royal Hotel offers superb accommodation in one of the most wonderful buildings to be found in the town of Stornoway. As the town's most historic hotel (opened 1850) the Royla Hotel has managed to retain much of it's character while all around newer, less interesting, buildings replaced many of Stornoway's old buildings. As well as the highly interesting exterior the Royal Hotel has also retained period features in those rooms to the front of the property.
Found in the very centre of Stornoway the Royal Hotel has some of the town's most popular eating places, the Boatshed Restaurant and the HS1 Cafe Bar.
The Cabarfeidh Hotel, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
The Cabarfeidh Hotel: The Cabarfeidh Hotel has long been known as Stornoway's finest hotel and, set in it's own lovely gardens and facing the Lews Castle grounds, the Cabarfeidh Hotel certainly has a most beautiful setting.
The Cabarfeidh Hotel is situated on the outskirts of Stornoway but is about 5 minutes drive from the town centre. As well as offering lucury accommodation the hotel also has superb function rooms.
The Caladh Inn, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
The Caladh Inn: The Caladh Inn (formerly the Seaforth Hotel) is owned by the same company as the Cabarfeidh Hotel above. It is therefore no surprise to find that the hospitality offered is truly excellent.
The Caladh Inn can be found on the outskirts of Stornoway (on the opposite side to the Cabar) and is the most accessible hotel to Stornoway Airport. Although on the outskirts of the town, Stornoway is only a small town and you will find that you are no more than a few minutes walk from the town centre itself. The Caladh Inn is the largest hotel in Stornoway.
