One of the main reasons why people choose to take a vacation on the Isle of Lewis is the unique experience that the islands Hebridean culture and spectacular scenery has to offer. With the advent of the Internet many folk from around the world are investigating their genealogy and, with the islanders being amongst the world's most widely traveled people, many folk visit the islands in search of their genealogical roots. Such visitors will find a wealth of information available in the main library in Stornoway but there are also a number of local historical societies which may be willing to help you, plus, on the nearby Isle of Harris there is a genealogy centre (Seallam) where you will find the extremely helpful Mr & Mrs Lawson.
